President Trump’s disastrous mix

President Trump’s disastrous mix

President Trump fails us in so many ways.

Millions are unemployed and a hundred thousand Americans are dead. It did not have to be this bad but President Trump’s months of magical thinking that the COVID-19 pandemic would just go away have led to over 100,000 American deaths and a Great Depression style economy.

Trump purge continues with 4th IG

Trump purge continues with 4th IG

President Trump has continued his purge of Inspector Generals (IGs) who seem willing to investigate wrongdoing in his administration. State Department Inspector General Steve Linick is the 4th Inspector General fired in recent weeks.

The latest seems to have been related to an investigation into Mike Pompeo.

Another contender for worst prediction of year

Another contender for worst prediction of year

Another one by a Trump is in the running for worst prediction of year.

Even though we are less than half way though this year, I thought Present Trump would be the likely winner with his February statement about getting close to zero coronavirus cases within a couple of days. It seemed an obvious winner when we are closer to 1.5 million cases of coronavirus and over 88,000 deaths.

Worst prediction of year

Worst prediction of year

Here is a quote in the running for worst prediction of year.

And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.

President Trump, February 26, 2020

The couple of days part is definitely wrong.

Pretty good job just indicates pretty low standards in the Trump administration.

But extra points for leaving out the part about about the road to zero running through over a million cases and well over 80,000 deaths.

False choice: Health or Economy

False choice: Health or Economy

President Trump is offering a false choice. He wants to open the economy and bring prosperity back to America. His Democratic enemies want to keep the county shut-down for years to make him look bad.

Vice President Biden discussed this and the behavior of the President in failing to address this COVID-19 crisis in the today’s Washington Post. It is worth reading-

Joe Biden: How the White House coronavirus response presents us with a false choice

Stupid or Misinformed

Stupid or Misinformed

To just follow-up briefly on my previous post where I asked about stupid or just misinformed, I wanted to give you an example of how people are misinformed.

Yesterday there was a news article about a New York City bar owner who died of COVID-19 because he was misinformed about the threat by Fox News and President Trump. Read about it here-
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/18/nyregion/coronavirus-jjbubbles-joe-joyce.html

It says a lot about the sad state of things here when you cannot believe either certain news outlets or the President of the United States. Sadder still is that people will die because of the misinformation. Probably many people.

Defunding WHO

Defunding WHO

President Trump announced that the United States will cut-off funding to the World Health Organization. As those who have read this blog probably know, I am not a big fan of President Trump and don’t think very highly of his ideas or actions. But cutting off funding to the World Health Organization in the middle of a pandemic has to be one of his worst ideas.

The worst announcement of the new CDC recommendation

The worst announcement of the new CDC recommendation

President Trump told us of the CDC recommendation to wear a cloth face covering when in public to prevent the spread of coronavirus during his COVID-19 briefing Friday. But then he immediately undermined that message. The cited article starts like this:

Not the time to ease social distancing

Not the time to ease social distancing

Should we continue to maintain social distancing? That is, remain at home to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The way I look at it is –
1. President Trump wants to end distancing by Easter
2. Experts say don’t end it in the next few weeks

I think we should listen to the public health experts.

Trump economy: this is HUGE

Trump economy: this is HUGE

Welcome to the new Trump economy. It is the result of President Trump’s failure to adequately respond to the the spread of the cornavirus.

The virus will kill people and can also kill an economy. President Trump has not done a good job preventing either. Last week there were 3 million claims for unemployment benefits.

President Trump’s failure: delay and misinformation

President Trump’s failure: delay and misinformation

The COVID-19 pandemic is much worse in the United States than it should be. This is due to a failure of federal response until fairly late in the spread of the virus. We can blame President Trump for most of this problem did not take the warning signs seriously. The blame is shared with those federal officials who should have contradicted him and gone public with what they knew.

The is a long story in about this delay and why this lost time is making things worse. It is long but worth reading. here is a link:

Trump Comparison With Hitler

Trump Comparison With Hitler

Some Republicans are upset about a Trump Comparison With Hitler. To me, it seems very appropriate.

But this story was just a small note in my Sunday paper. It was probably a bigger story in the Baltimore area. So when I had the time, I looked for more information. Now seems like a good time to say what this is all about.

President Trump learns a lesson

President Trump learns a lesson

The Senate has voted not to remove President Trump from office. It’s not that he wasn’t guilty of the charges in the impeachment trial.

The case was proved by overwhelming evidence. Perhaps Senator Alexander said it best: Continue reading “President Trump learns a lesson”
