Taxes of Donald Trump

Taxes of Donald Trump

Donald Trump has played himself as billionaire on reality TV. He is currently President of the United States. He does not seem to be a successful businessman as evidenced in his tax returns but seems to have convinced many people that he is very successful in business and a billionaire.

On Fascism:  12 Lessons from American History

On Fascism:  12 Lessons from American History

I am glad I read On Fascism:  12 Lessons from American History by Matthew C. MacWilliams

Dr MacWilliams starts with survey data indicating that 46% of Americans inconsistently support  democracy (https://www.voterstudygroup.org/publication/follow-the-leader) and explores surveys that indicate support for various ideas inconsistent with democracies.

Damaging American democracy

Damaging American democracy

Quote of the day:

Douglas Brinkley, the presidential historian, said, “This may be the most damaging thing he has ever done to American democracy.”

This quote is quoted from Trump Again Sows Doubt About Election as G.O.P. Scrambles to Assure Voters.

I questioned whether this refusal to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he lost the election was Impeachable here yesterday but President Trump seems to be sticking to his threat.

Impeachable behavior?

Impeachable behavior?

President Trump refuses commit to peaceful transition of power if he is not re-elected.

Is this not an example of inappropriate behavior for the President of the United States? Our constitution assumes such peaceful transition. Is it unconstitutional to refuse this? Is it Impeachable>

Wil the House have the courage to impeach? Will the Senate have the courage to convict?

If not, are we ready for the fight at the inauguration when the elected President and the president who will not leave both show up.

Biden Rule, republican alterative fact

The Biden Rule has come up again in discussing a potential Supreme Court nomination. There is no Biden Rule. Republicans just made it a rule to justify a political trick.

CDC and political ping-pong

CDC and political ping-pong

Do you remember CDC?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was once considered the best, or at least one of the best, public health agencies in the world. Until President Trump, they successfully guided the US though several epidemic and pandemics. Now the Trump administration is doing their best to ignore the advice of CDC and other public health experts as he fails to protect the American people from COVID-19.

Politics and death

Politics and death

We are talking about President Trump’s politics and and how that relates to the large number of deaths due to his failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I do not think President Trump was not responsible for the virus coming here. But he is responsible for the large number of deaths that resulted from his incompetence and lies about the problem to the American people.

The Darkest Evening by Ann Cleeves

The Darkest Evening by Ann Cleeves

Last year I reviewed a new book by Ann Cleeves I had read. I gave it a try as I liked the TV adaption of Shetland which was based on another series of her books. I liked it very much so when I saw another Ann Cleeves book on Netgalley, I jumped at the chance to read another.

The Darkest Evening is part of the Vera Stanhope series. I had heard of this series but had not read any or watched the TV adaption. I was very pleased with the book. Now I’ll have to give the TV show a try.

President Trump doesn’t understand patriotism or the military

President Trump doesn’t seem to understand patriotism, the military, or the concept of being willing to sacrifice for the country. It is sad to have such a clueless President.

2020 Russian election advantages

2020 Russian election advantages

There is little doubt that Russia intervened in our presidential election of 2016 in favor of candidate Donald Trump. It has been confirmed multiple times by our intelligence agencies and most recently by the Senate Intelligence Committee.

President Trump denies this and takes the word of President Putin that Russia did not interfere in our elections over the findings of our intelligence agencies.
