I am presently reading A Republic, If You Can Keep It by Neil Gorsuch. The title comes from Benjamin Franklin who was asked after the Constitutional Convention what type of government we would have. He replied “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Now that the republic has lasted several centuries the question is still whether we can keep that republic. This book is Justice Gorsuch’s answer.
Justice Gorsuch has written a wonderful book. In it he explains his overall juridical philosophy, giving examples of both cases he ruled in as well as others he had no involvement in but illustrate the point he wants to make. . He dispenses valuable advice mostly geared toward the legal profession but useful advise for any of us.
I think this book is an important one. It is geared toward the general reader. Justice Gorsuch is a very good writer. He clearly explains his views on the law. I hope more people read this book. I highly recommend it,
