We need to understand why and how the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol occurred. It is a shame that Republicans blocked the National Bipartisan Commission but the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol passed the House at the end of June and that should help. It was disappointing bit not unexpected to see so much Republican opposition.

A recent news item tells us that although Speaker Nancy Pelosi has appointed her members. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has not, and so the committee is missing 5 members. The committee plans the first hearing on July 27.

I would like to see this committee be bipartisan and so if Kevin McCarthy does not name his members soon perhaps Nancy Pelosi should appoint 5 Republicans or Independents of her choice.
