The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 also known as H.R.1319 passed the House of Representatives with only Democratic support. All 210 Republican who voted cast their vote against this bill. One Republican did not vote (Bost of Illinois). The final vote was 219-212. For those interested, HR 1319 and actions on this are summarized at congress.gov.

The bill includes $1400 stimulus checks for qualified individuals, unemployment insurance, a child tax credit, aid for state and local governments and amny other forms of needed aid.

To me, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 is needed to help with the COVID-19 pandemic we are now suffering through. We can only hope the Republicans in the Senate show more sense that those in the House. The Democrats tried to provide similar relief last year but were stopped by Republican opposition. We can only hope it will be better this time.
