Senator Ted Cruz is now talking a stand against the free and fair election we had a few months ago. He is the leader of a group of 12 Republican Senators who will not allow the Electoral College votes to be certified without another investigation into voter fraud.
I do not think this is the way to go. (See Are Republicans the enemy of democracy? ) There have been repeated claims of widespread voter fraud in this election by Republicans and there is just no credible evidence backing the claim. Over 50 lawsuits have been rejected. Attorney General Barr sees no evidence. Do we really need another investigation?
The following Republican Senators support Senator Cruz’s crazy quest.
- Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee
- Bill Hagerty of Tennessee
- Mike Braun of Indiana
- Steve Daines of Montana
- Ron Johnson of Wisconsin
- John Kennedy of Louisiana
- James Lankford of Oklahoma
- Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming
- Roger Marshall of Kansas
- Tommy Tuberville of Alabama
In addition Senator Josh Hawley also objects to the certication.
You might want to remember this when they run for re-election. But that is several years off.
This is about a quarter of Republican Senators. And who knows if more will sign on? What Georgia voters can do now is to vote for the Democrats so Republicans will not be in charge of the Senate. The rest of us just have to remember this for future elections.
Are so many Republicans against freedom or are they just servile puppy dogs as Senator Cruz would say?
