The Biden Rule has come up again in discussing a potential Supreme Court nomination. There is no Biden Rule. Republicans just made it a rule to justify a political trick.

I discussed this on this blog a bit over 2 years ago and the facts have not changes. Perhaps Republican acceptance of alternative fact has. My post was Biden rule was made by Republicans.

The lack of hearings for President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Garland a few years back was not due to the fictional Biden Rule. Since there was no such rule, it was just a power play by Senator McConnell.

Since this McConnell Rule is now the precedent, you would think they would follow a similar path with any nomination by President Trump. Indeed, several have gone on record saying that would be the case. But now they have changed their minds since it is a Republican President.

Is hypocrisy the best way to describe this?
