Where are the pesos? This ‘build a wall on the southern border and Mexico will pay’ promise was made as Donald Trump announced his campaign for President in 2016.

I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively, I will build a great, great wall on our southern border. And I will have Mexico pay for that wall.

Donald Trump promised many things but this was one he repeated over and over during the campaign and into his Presidency. Unfortunately the check did not come from the Mexican government and his plans to extract the money indirectly from Mexico did not work out. So no pesos to pay for the wall. The frequently emphasized part of the promise was broken.

Also his plan to greatly expand the wall on our border did not work out.

So he broke his promise to get Mexico to pay. He did not add much to the existing border barriers. He broke both parts of the promise. But he did make nice speeches and had several photo ops.
