It is well known that President Trump has had a problem with the truth. Lies, misrepresentations and alternative facts have been apparent for a long time.
A fact checker put the number of lies and misrepresentations at over 20,000 since the beginning of his term and that was the number over a month ago . I’m not sure how many more lies and misrepresentations have passed his lips in recent weeks. We can argue over the exact number in this term but it is clear it is a big number.
Since President Trump is always bragging about his great economy and saying it is the strongest ever or something similar and my impression is that it was basically the continuation of trends under the Obama administration, I was very interested to see a column in this weekend that shows that his “great” economy was similar but not as great as the Obama economy shows no sign of the rapid comeback he is saying is happening after the recent economic collapse.

As Republicans take the virtual stage for their convention this week, expect to hear much chest pounding about how great the economy has been under Donald Trump’s leadership and how fast it is coming back from the virus-induced shutdown.
Alas, both assertions are untrue.
