Make America Great Again. That was the slogan in 2016 and most of us were a bit confused by it. So what is it about?

I’m old enough to be called a “senior citizen” and as long as I can remember the United States of America was always a great country. Leader of the Free world and all that. Not perfect but we were working toward a more perfect union (as they say).

So where does the “again” fit. We were already great. As the Trump Presidency proceeded through the first term, it became more clear.

There was Charlottesville and President Trump told us of very fine people on both sides as the neo-Nazis and the KKK fought those would remove a Robert E. Lee statue in a local park.

More recently President Trump favored retaining the names on our military installations named after confederate soldiers who committed treason against the United States

President Trump also defended the Confederate flag and re-tweeted a “white power” video.

President Trump seems to think taking down statues to men who betrayed their county or renaming military bases to exclude those who fought against the United States is somehow an attack on our heritage.
