General Mattis denounces President Trump

I’m so glad I subscribe to The Atlantic. I do enjoy the magazine when it comes out but what I really enjoy is its presence on the internet. They post articles daily on their website. I’m sure most of them do not make it into the printed magazine. The daily newsletter alerts me to them. I’m not sure if you need to be a subscriber to read those but you may want to try it and see.

Subscribers also get to look at their archive of previous articles which is very handy if you are looking for more background on an issue. But I’ll see if you can get to the links I’ll post below.

That was a long introduction but now I’ll get to the subject of my title. Yesterday, General James Mattis posted a letter and the text of his letter as well as a bit of background is given in the article called James Mattis Denounces President Trump, Describes Him as a Threat to the Constitution : In an extraordinary condemnation, the former defense secretary backs protesters and says the president is trying to turn Americans against one another.

General James Mattis had previously resigned as Secretary of Defense in 2018 to protest Donald Trump’s troop withdrawal in Syria and betrayal of allies. Until now he has been very silent about his time with President Trump. Here is a bit more background from the The Atlantic‘s archive of previous articles.
