President Donald Trump would like to send citizens who disagree with him back. Presumably back to their country of origin if they are naturalized citizens and it is a bit unclear where citizens born in the USA go. Perhaps the lands of their ancestors.
Deporting citizens is a bit of a problem. So it seems to be another empty threat. Is ‘send her back” like “lock her up” in that way?
But there are a few reports of fear of deportation among US citizens and at least one case of a US citizen being detained by ICE which resulted in the legal finding of monetary damages. The ACLU has recently documented a large number of cases in just one county.
Which bring sme back to me. I am a US citizen. All 4 of my grandparents were born in the USA.
If I am to be send back, where should I go ? I currently live in the swing state of Pennsylvania. Would President Trump be satisfied if I moved to a state where I have lived that is not likely to be a swing state in 2020. Perhaps Georgia or New York. That would be a “go back” of sorts
Or maybe a country where my great-grandparents were from. That would really be a “go back” 4 of them were born in Ireland. And 2 in Germany. Then there is one who was probably born in Canada. Of his parents one was born in Canada and the other in Scotland. The last I don’t know about. I think maybe the USA, Ireland, or Scotland.
There may be some changes here as I learn more. What happens to citizens who do not agree with the President but do not know much about genealogy or the origins of their family?
But back to me. Is it my choice or does ICE decide to where I should be deported?
