During his presidential campaign and during many rallies during his presidency, Donald Trump promised to build a wall on our southern border that Mexico would pay for. Just to be clear, the US would build it and Mexico would pay for it.

The check from Mexico is not in the mail. Mexico is not paying.

Now that he has broken that promise, President Trump wants money for the Wall from the US taxpayer and the House is not caving to his demands, and President Trump is refusing to re-open the parts of the government that have been showdown.

Although the Senate might pass the House bill to re-open the parts of the government that have been showdown, Senator Mitch McConnell refuses to let the Senate vote.

Like most people the Democrats want to re-open the government. Like most of us, they see a wall as a big waste of money.

There are better ways than a wall to stop illegal immigrants and illegal drugs from entering the country, For 5 billion dollar, you could hire and good number of border agents. Or hire more immigration judges. Or beef up security at ports of entry.

So many ways to enhance border security. But President Trump insists on his stupid idea.
