Judge Kavanaugh may be the next Justice on the Supreme Court if this rushed and deeply flawed confirmation process continues. But he really needs to clarify his stances on the prolife/prodeath issue.

For example, President Trump has promised to appoint Justices who will overturn Roe vs. Wade and Brett Kavanaugh’s history seem to indicate he will not only repeal a woman’s right to an abortion but also reduce access to contraception.

But why should the Senate confirm someone to the Supreme Court to decide this issue if he seems to confuse abortion and contraception.

Do antiabortion foes (including Judge Kavanaugh) really want to return to the days of illegal back-alley abortions? As a retired public health guy, I remember the pre-Roe death statistics. Do Republicans really want to be responsible for women dying by confirming a Justice who will likely vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade or restrict abortion-related rights in another way.

Do Republicans really want to confirm a Justice who will vote to reduce access to contraception. The easily foreseeable result would be more pregnancies. Pair that with abortion restrictions and you will likely get more back-alley abortions and more women dying.
