John Kasich is a 2 term governor of Ohio and a former U.S. congressman. In the House of Representatives he was on the Armed Services Committee and was chairman of the Budget Committee the last time we had a balanced budget. So he does know a bit about governing and fiscal matters.
Watching the Republican debates during the last presidential primary season, led me to believe that John Kasich was the best among the many choices.
When I saw John Kasich’s Two Paths: America Divided or United in the library I thought it might be interesting to learn more about this man who did not get his party’s nomination. I enjoyed the book much more than expected.
I came away impressed with Mr. Kasich’s fundamental honesty and decency. I felt he would have an honest and respectful discussion with holders of opinions differing from his. On many issues he would be able to work toward a compromise that respected the opinions of all involved.
I also enjoyed his perspectives on the primary race but I think the more important parts of the book are the explanations of his beliefs about leadership, honesty, decency, compassion and politics. I liked this book and recommend to anyone with an interest in U.S. politics.
