What do I mean by healthcare follies? The definition of follies I had in mind is “the state or quality of being foolish; lack of understanding or sense” or perhaps absurdity . How does healthcare tie-in?

Healthcare is not absurd. But the actions we have seen recently and may see more of in the near future do bring the word “follies” to mind.

First, the House passes a bill which will results in tens of millions losing healthcare insurance. Followed by the secret Senate plan which is no longer a secret but will have similar effect on tens of millions.

The Senate Majority leader planned on an immediate vote but has had to delay it since it would not pass this week. Will he be able to put enough pressure on Senators to pass the current bill or perhaps modify it to get more votes. That modification could go either way. Make the plan slightly more generous to get more moderates on board. Or make modify it to make it more palatable to very conservative Senators who would prefer less healthcare.

If the Senate passes the bill, it will have to be reconciled with the House bill.
