President Trump thinks we should negotiate drug prices for Medicare. At least that was his position a few months ago and I don’t think it has changed.
A bill to negotiate drug prices for Medicare has been introduced in the Senate. I am talking about S.41 – Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act of 2017. I wrote about it earlier and thought I should say more.
The bill has been with the Senate Committee on Finance for over 3 months now. It has significant co-sponsor support among the non-Republican members of the Senate. Given President Trump’s support for negotiating drug prices for Medicare, I do not know why there is no Republican support for this bill or why this bill remains bottled-up in committee.
Is it too much to hope that the Senate and then the House can come together in a bipartisan fashion to benefit seniors?
Are the opponents of S.41 are more concerned with preserving profits of the pharmaceutical industry that allowing the government to negotiate savings for seniors and Medicare?
