The full title is Hack-Proof Your Life Now! The New Cybersecurity Rules: Protect your email, computers, and bank accounts from hacks, malware, and identity theft by Sean M. Bailey and Devin Kropp .
Highly recommended. I thought I was good about cybersecurity and keeping the bad guys from hacking into my accounts. I consider myself an experienced computer user and pretty good about safety online but I learned quite a bit here.
The book is easy to read and while the authors do not confuse us needlessly with use of technical terms, I think they strike the right balance for those of us who are reasonably comfortable with computing but non-experts in cybersecurity.
There are specific steps we can take. The authors give an example of how someone unwittingly gave access to their financial accounts. And then they show simple steps to avoid a problem.
I particularly liked how they explained the necessity for each step they suggested. And then gave more detail on how to execute that step for those that needed additional information.
But more importantly I think they did a good job in explaining the necessity to be vigilant and a bit skeptical about incoming emails and how to check them out.
Anyone using in the internet, be it email, social media, or web surfing, needs to realize that although most users are like them or honest businesses, there is a criminal element looking for easy money. These people are busy working at designing emails or websites to give them easy access to your money. Be aware of cyber-criminals and protect yourself.
They are good at what they do which is tricking you into giving them valuable information. Be careful.
Improve the ways you protect yourself by reading this book.
