TrumpCare, the expensive repeal of ObamaCare

Can we afford to let the Republicans do this? It is expensive to repeal ObamaCare and for our money we get less. Why, Republicans?

The repeal of ObamaCare would cost about 353 billion dollars over the next 10 years and about 20 million people would lose their health insurance. The numbers are from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and there is considerable uncertainty to these numbers but it seems likely the repeal would be expensive and many people would lose coverage.

More expensive and less coverage, what more could Republicans want? Perhaps we could call in RyanCare or if the new President gets behind this, it could be TrumpCare.

  1. Hey jack it’s disagree on this Democrats an that damn Obama care in my opinion is all garbage.. look I’m not very political all I wanna say is I had bad cold bout 5 months ago.. the last time I got meds to help me I was able to get them all but this time around I could not afford a inhaler that would of helped me in a couple days.. I could not do this an was not gunna pay hundreds for something that is lifesaving it should be affordable for those who get money took out every week my check those who get it for free don’t even pay this.. so why not let the Republicans c what they can do give em a chance.. we had to do the same with Obama..if it gets out of hand then we can try to do sumthing bout it.. it’s not fair that Republicans have been out of it for years jus give em a chance..

  2. Hi Bruce,

I am aware of quite a few problems with ObamaCare. I believe in the last few years Republicans in Congress should have been working to fix those, rather than repeal it a a whole as they did many times. It seems now that they have a Republican in the White House, they are either going to try repeal again or just repeal enough that is is unworkable.

Donald Trump will be our President in a few weeks. He has said a few things about healthcare, including that he will keep the best parts of Obamacare while doing a repeal and replace. I hope whatever replacement he comes up with will address the shortcomings of Obamacare, especially the “Affordable” part.

I believe that Congress should not go forward with a repeal until they have a good replacement. It would be expensive, people will lose coverage, and, from what I read, add big problem for insurance companies and hospitals. If they do repeal part, it is no longer ObamaCare.

I agree the new President and Congress deserve a chance (but so far, I am not encouraged). But we should also watch and respond to potential problems.

    Jack
