The Forgotten Room: A Novel by Lincoln Child was an enjoyable book.
The opening chapter got my attention. Then I thought the next part was just interesting enough to keep me turn pages. Since I read this on my Kindle Fire, I kept touching the screen to advance to the next page. This would be about 20% of the book or about 60 pages since the hardback is a bit over 300 pages.
As I said, it is interesting enough to keep you going forward in The Forgotten Room as Mr. Child introduces you to Lux, a think-tank institute in an old mansion in Newport, and many of the characters. The setting in an old seaside mansion in Newport, Rhode Island adds interest. The strange and mysterious events further pique your interest.
Dr. Jeremy Logan is an “enigmalogist”. He is the main character in this book and an investigator trying to analyze phenomena these strange event that have no obvious explanation. At first it seems the explanation may be supernatural and may be tied to a hidden and forgotten room in an abandoned wing of Lux. Further investigation leads to the possibility that previous research in that room may somehow be involved.
I enjoyed this book but found the first part to be somewhat slower than I liked.
After this section, I think the book gets much better.
