There is a series of dystopian novels called The Hunger Games. You may have heard of them. There is renewed popularity recently because of the movies based on the novels.
You also may have read or heard of other dystopian novels by Ray Bradbury and George Orwell. There are quite a few examples of dystopian fiction. Some are better than others.
But we seem to have our own real-life version in Black Friday and other shopping frenzies. The term Shopping Games came to mind when reading about the latest stampede trampling of a shopper. Fortunately, it was apparently only an injury this time although details do not seem to be available yet. Seems to me there was a trampling death of a shopper a few years ago.
But will The Shopping Games serve as a distraction from societal issues for many? Can we look forward to a novel or perhaps a movie or TV series?
Shopping Games…great idea..novel, movie ,TV game for sure…maybe a web game or ‘survival series”…wonderful way to keep “Christ in Christmas (not)…simply shows the greed of some (businesses and people) and the further degradation of society in general. Is there no end?

No end in sight. I hope the merchants do have a good season. The economy could use it. Less commercialism would be nice but I don’t see it happening.
But I hope this early shopping on Thanksgiving does not go well so it gets less each year. If it goes well I suppose things will continue to get worse.
