Impeachment inquiry resolution

What do Republicans want regarding the impeachment inquiry? When the initial hearings were held by committees, they were closed. That is, they were restricted to members of those committees involved, which of course includes members of both parties.

Republicans in Congress liked to pretend they were excluded which was not the case at all. In fact some of the Republicans who stormed the secure hearing room and violated security procedure in doing so were actually members of the committees and could attend.

The problem of partisan secrecy played well in some quarters but was actually false and so a nonissue. So much for the myth that Republicans are the party of law and order.

When the Democrats proposed a resolution that would open the hearings and actually televise some, the Republicans all voted against it. It would not open an inquiry since that was already done. It would just change the inquiry to rules more to the what Republicans say they want.

Apparently they prefer closed hearings so the public does not get to see evidence of President Trumps’ violations of law and the Constitution. Of course, there could be another explanation that just has not occurred to me. Perhaps they will speak out to let us know why they find public hearings objectionable.
