Lately I’ve been thinking about democracy in general. It is certainly in trouble here in the US but there are similar problems in many counties. I recently read a piece called “The Shocking Paper Predicting the End of Democracy” which suggests a more general problem with people and democratic governance. Professor Shawn W. Rosenberg presented this at International Society of Political Psychologists’ annual meeting. Here is another article on that presentation.
One can hope this paper is wrong and the democracies will recover but it is definitely worth reading and thinking about.
Writing about “How Democracy Dies, American-Style”, Paul Krugman cites the book How Democracies Die and, of course, President Trump.
The book appears to be another worrisome tale on the future democratic governance. I’ve not read the book myself but it seems to address a similar problem about the future of democracy in general. This general problem should concern all of us in democratic nations.
