Lately there has been a lot of talk about Moscow Mitch (or #MoscowMitch), a new nickname or perhaps title for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). Is this deserved or not?
I tend to think it appropriate but there is opinion on both sides of the issue.
For example here are 2 diverse opinions:
1. ‘Moscow Mitch,’ the other useful idiot and
2. The inane, obscene ‘tool of the Kremlin’ assault on Mitch McConnell
He might merely be doing his best to support President Trump and the Republican party. But that is not his job. The Senate is not a branch of the White House. It is part of the legislative branch and it would be nice if it functioned as such.
The evidence is overwhelming that the Russians interfered in our elections and will probably do so again in 2020. Yet the Senate Majority Leader will not allow bills to make our elections more secure come to the floor of the senate. Much of the focus is on the bill recently passed by the House but there have been other bills too.
So no matter what his motivation, he is helping the Russians and it does appear that Moscow Mitch is valid nickname for Senator Mitch McConnell.
