I am still trying to decide how I will vote in the election for US Senator. In Pennsylvania we have a choice of two major party candidates I do not like. So the Mitch factor may be important.
I would normally think party should not be the deciding factor. We should chose the best candidate or at least the one we think is best.
One factor, that may be the deciding one in some cases, is than a vote for the Republican candidate is a vote to retain Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader. In that post, he has refused to to do his job. He seems rather cowardly trying to condemn Donald Trump’s statements while supporting his candidacy.
So in your decision on Senators, you may want to consider the Mitch factor. The Mitch factor will be a large part of my decision process.
